Track 2 · 6 months · 900 hours
Industrial pipefitter
A pipefitter splits their time between the workshop and the site: cutting pipe, preparing and fitting spools, installing lines and organising the welding. The course starts from scratch, drawing in hand.

Objectives
What you will be able to do
- Read and use industrial piping drawings and technical documents
- Fabricate and check simple and complex spools in the workshop
- Cut, form, fit and tack weld, before final welding
- Keep materials and operations traceable
- Prepare and organise work on an industrial site
- Take measurements for new, modification or maintenance work
- Install and assemble lines on site, meeting quality, safety and deadlines
The trade
The pipefitter's skills and terms
Cut length between two faces, 37.5° ± 2.5° bevel with root face, tack welding, bending, weld numbering and traceability records: everything that makes a clean, compliant line.
Programme
Six stages, in this order
More theory than the welder track: reading isometrics, marking out and calculations take up a large share, in the classroom and in the workshop.
1 week
Induction
Welcome, safety, discovering the trade and its tools, introduction to technical drawing.
8 weeks
Module 1 · Simple pipe line
A simple spool tack-welded with tee, elbow, reducer and flange; a bent section; traceability.
6 weeks
Module 2 · Complex spool
Changes of direction at any angle and a spool with a branch connection.
5 weeks
Module 3 · Installation in a real work situation
Installing and dismantling a line under a safety protocol, taking measurements, fitting a tack-welded spool.
3 weeks
Work placement
Real work with a tutor, a visit from the trainer and a review.
1 week
Final assessment
Fabrication, a written test including marking out, an installation exercise and a panel.
Validation
Three certificates of competence
- Fabricate and check a simple pipe line with full traceability
- Fabricate and check a complex pipe spool with full traceability
- Install and assemble a pipe line in a real work situation
The three modules lead to the validation of the industrial pipefitter skills, after a panel reviews the professional file, the tests, the work simulation and the final interview.
The pipefitter prepares, tack welds and checks. Final welding of the lines is done by qualified welders, which is why both trades train in the same workshop.
